Life vs. Your Life

There’s life. And the there’s your life.

Life would always want to dictate to your life on how it should be lived.

It’ll send pain. Pain likes to be felt; caressed like a prostitute and petted like a baby.

But your life must look pain in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’ll keep my hands to myself’

Then, life would send Pride. Pride likes to puff up; like the yeast in the dough and like  garri in  water.

But your life must look pride in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I am not puff-puff’

Then life would send death. Death likes to take and never give; like a selfish and miserly man.

But your life must look death in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but not today’

Then life would send poverty. Poverty likes to grumble; it’ll sit in your stomach and just rumble.

But your life must look poverty in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’m too blessed for that’

Then life would send hatred. Hatred likes to burn; like a specialist in arson it’ll consume your heart.

But your life must look hatred in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’m too cool for that’

Then life would send disapponintment. Disappointment likes to point and laugh and say ‘I told you, don’t try’

But your life must look disappointment in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’d like to get back to trying some more’

Then life would send betrayal. Betrayal likes to play with knives; stabbing people in their backs and catching them unawares.

But your life must look betrayal in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’ll still turn my back on you. I’m not scared’

Then life would send bitterness. Bitterness likes to store itself in a cluster; behaving like a stone in your heart.

But your life must look bitterness in its eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but you cannot hold your meeting there’

And then, life would get worried, and take something as good as love, mix it up with all sorts of wrongness, and send it your way.

But your life must look love in the eyes and say, ‘Thanks, but I’ll fix you and do you right’

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
