Obit to Adrian

Today’s topic is ‘Obituary to your favorite fictional character’. I don’t exactly have one. Or I couldn’t think up one. But I really like Adrian Ivashkov in Vampire Academy (a lovely Richelle Mead series which I’m currently reading). Decided to write to him (or his dead body)…

Enjoy!

‘I’m like a fine wine. I get better with age. The best is yet to come’- A.I

Adrian. I guess you were right about that. The person that you were only got better even till your death. You were still the funny, sarcastic, soulful, wise, loving, lovable and charming Adrian that you were. And although the sickness did not get better with time, you did.

‘My cigarettes and I are going outside. At least they show me respect’- A.I

We saw it coming. The lung cancer.  All of that smoking was bound to lead to disaster. No good could come out of it. But I don’t blame you for that. It was not your fault. All the negative effect from being a spirit user got you. You were only looking for a way out. You drowned the effect of spirit in spirit. And puffed away all the pain with cigarettes. You were so smart. So lovable. So devastatingly charming. Even cancer wanted to be associated with you.

Your short time with us was not a waste, though; for from you, I learned a lot.

I learned to be fearlessly blunt…

What do you think Dimitri? Is this a good idea Dimitri? Please give us your blessing so that we can fall down and worship you, Dimitri?’ A.I

I learned to love with all my heart…

‘What is it with you and girls, Adrian dear? Why do they either mean nothing to you or everything? It’s always an extreme’

‘Because I don’t do things in halves, mom. Especially when it comes to love’- A.I

I learned to be my own hype-man

‘Takes a lot of tries before you hit perfection.’ He paused to reconsider that. ‘Well, except for my parents. They got it on the first try’- Adrian Ivashkov

‘My commentary is hilarious, not witty’ – Adrian Ivashkov

I learned to say what I need to say to who I need to say

‘Look, Rose. You don’t have to keep up with the hard-to-get thing. You’ve already got me’- Adrian Ivashkov

I’ve learned not to be ashamed of who I am.

‘Besides, when not hard at work with this research, I’m actually conducting a side experiment on how cigarettes and gin increase charisma. As you might guess, the results are looking very promising’.- A.I

I’ve learned to hope

‘If I keep loving you, maybe you’ll eventually crack and love me too. Hell, I’m pretty sure you’re already half in love with me’-A.I

I’ve learned to sometimes key into my weird poetic side… sometimes

‘Rose is in red,

But never in blue,

Sharp as a thorn,

Fights like one too’- A.I.

I’ve learned some wise words

‘The greatest changes in history have come when people were able to shake off what others told them to do’- A.I

I’ve learned to accept my weirdness (and make every other person accept it too)

‘You’ve asked me out tons of times.’

‘Not really. I’ve made inappropriate suggestions and frequently pushed for nudity. But I’ve never asked you out on a real date’- A.I

I’ve learned to stay true to who I am

Maybe I was in love, but I was still me, after all’- A.I

These, and many more, I have learned from you. For a fictional character, you did pretty well teaching me a lot of unfictional lessons.

I hope you find peace, love and freedom where you are.

I hope the bad juju never gets you again.

I hope you remain Adrian Ivashkov, the sarcastic, loving, artistic, poetic, and funny smoker with the impossible train of thought.
