Witho*t U

Prompt:

March 4

Twenty-five

There are 26 letters in the English language, and we need every single one of them. Want proof? Choose a letter and write a blog post without using it. (Feeling really brave? Make it a vowel!)

Dear Mom,

Happy Mothers’ Day.

When I closed my eyes and picked the letter I picked from the box, I realized how hard a task this might be for me. My other 25 classmates who picked the 25 other alphabets have it easy for them. (Yes, even those who picked ‘a’)

See mom, I’ll try, yet, I’m certain that I can never really rely how deeply I adore… thee.

I love how cold nights seem warmer when I sleep beside… thee

And  how I  can sleep carelessly in the living room and wake to find myself safe and warm in my room.

Remember that time when I came back home crying, wailing that I failed a test? It was not really that I failed, it was that I knew that it’d bring sadness to… thee

Or that time when I made a mess combating with those kids at the last Inter-School Sports competition, and lied that it was ‘cos they kicked me on my chest? That was a lie… it was for their confrontation. They confronted me and said dad abandoned the family, and that they didn’t blame him, seeing that he got married to a woman like… thee.

Oh Lord, I clawed and screamed with every strength I gathered!

I appreciate every scold, beating, treat and gift from… thee

See mom, with the woman I’m becoming, I want to bring amazement and contentment to… thee

I want to be more honest, more responsible, braver, stronger and everything more, so that I’ll finally show the world that I am a child of… thee

——

Reading over what I have written, I become more and more certain of some things:

1, that my No 1 person is… thee

2, that soon, I’ll bring a lot of joy to… thee

3, that dad was an imp for leaving… thee

4, that I may have homicidal tendencies when the matter involves… thee

And 5, that everything feels incomplete witho*t… U.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
